Won Woo Ro received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea, in 1996, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, USA, in 1999 and 2004, respectively. He is currently a Professor with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Yonsei University. Prior to joining Yonsei University, he served as an Assistant Professor at California State University, Northridge. He also worked as a Research Scientist at the University of California, Irvine. His industry experience includes an internship at Apple Computer, Inc. and a contract software engineering role at ARM, Inc.
His research interests include high-performance microprocessor design, GPU microarchitectures, memory hierarchy, and quantum computing. Dr. Ro is a Hall of Fame member of ISCA (2021), MICRO (2024), and HPCA (2026). He also served as a General Chair for Micro 2025 in Seoul. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
